Installing a Tekonsha Brake Controller in a 2004 Dodge Ram with a Factory 4-way
Question:
Im getting ready to install a brake controller in my 2004 dodge ram rumble bee, i have the factory 4 way plug in the rear of the truck i have located the blue plug under the dash for a plug and play controller i have read several articles on the plug behind the front left wheel, and that i need to cut the green wire coming in from hood side of plug and attach my blue wire for my brake output and run it to my newly installed 7 way plug just wanting to make sure that the GREEN wire Im cutting in that plug behind the wheel is the right wire is has no wire attached on the adapting plug thanks

To make sure the green wire in the plug behind the front left wheel is the correct wire you will need to test it. You will need to take the brake controller and fully apply the manual override and then test the wire with a circuit tester such as # PT89ZR.
If the wire shows power it is the correct wire and you can splice a wire such as # 10-1-1 to it and run it back to the blue brake controller output located at 7 o'clock on the back of the 7-way vehicle connector. The wire is sold in increments of one foot. Avoid areas where the wire could get damaged, pinched or burned when routing it to the 7-way.
You will also need a Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers for Dodge vehicles # 3020-P.
