Can Older Thule T2 be Adapted to Fit 29er

Question:

I have a Thule classic t2 bike rack, with pre-29er length arms. The existing arm will not open up enough to fit over the 29” tire, unless I remove the top screw to allow the clamp to slide off the end of the bar first. I had read that etrailer sells the newer version, longer bars. Can you verify this? Also, is the longer bar sold separately, to where my original locking clamp can be reused? If not, can the lock mechanism be removed and added to the new clamp? Thanks in advance for your response.

The replacement arm part # 753-3579 is exactly what you need. This will convert your older Thule T2 bike rack to allow it to be used with the 29 inch wheel you have now.
