Will A Tight Fitting 5th Wheel Hitch Put Too Much Strain On An In-Bed Puck System

Question:

2024 GMC 3500HD. How much gap should there be between the Hitch and the legs? When installing this hitch there was a good 1/8 inch gap on both sides. The bolts, when tightened pulled it all together but Im wondering if this isnt putting stress on the legs and pucks.

It's very common that the legs of a fifth wheel hitch have to be loosened in order to drop into the pucks in the truck bed. With you only have an 1/8" gap the legs of your Curt Q25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # C97FR most likely just were sitting perfectly straight so it's nothing to worry about. Typically we recommend have the legs torqued down to the main body of the hitch and then just loosening the castle nut on the feet of the hitch to get them to drop into the pucks and then retightening them.
