Troubleshooting Curt T-Connector Not Working On 2011 Toyota RAV4 With Only 1 Volt Power at 4-Way

Question:

I am installing a Curt T connector 56165. I am getting 12V to the short convertor box power wire. In other words, I have 12V inches away from the convertor box directly supplied from the battery. At the trailer connection pins, I am only seeing ~1V. I have tried multiple grounding locations. The tail lights on the vehicle work fine. What am I missing? Is this a bad convertor?

It does sound like your Curt T-Connector # C56165 is faulty on your 2011 Toyota RAV4. The simplest test to verify the module is bad and you do not have a ground issue is to use a spare 12 volt battery to connect power and ground directly to the convertor. If you still do not see 12 volts of power to the 4-way when the signals, brake and running lights are activated you then know the convertor is the issue.

If it does begin working using a 2nd battery for a bench test you will need to find a better ground connection.
