C56045 Not Working on Volvo
Question:
Hi, I just installed the wiring harness C56045 on my 2013 Volvo XC90. I am pretty sure I did everything right but it is not working when connect to the trailer or when I check the harness connector with an electrical tester. There is just no electricity coming through. Is it possible the unit is defective? Any suggestions?

It is possible the # C56045 is defective, yes. But you can check a few things first, and start by taking a look at your owner's manual to locate any fuses or relays and ensure they are all there and in working order. I know it's pretty basic and you likely have already done it but I did want to mention it.
Next check the ground wire and make sure it is good (this was done on step 5 in the instructions) as a bad ground can lead to all types of funky issues. If that's good, and the fuses are good and in place, use your circuit tester to check to see if the signals are going into the converter but not out. If so, the unit is indeed bad.
