Troubleshooting Curt In Line Brake Controller That Tricks 2017 Ford F-150 into Trailer Connection
Question:
I have a 2017 max tow f150 that has the factory brake controller built-in that has been nothing but issues so I installed an echo inline. I have disabled the factory controller with forscan as instructed by Curts support. The first problem is the truck now thinks there is always a trailer connected. It also has an issue when a trailer is not connected and you hit the brakes, after about 3 seconds there is a click from the left side of the dash, the IPC warning ding goes off and I get a trailer disconnectedinch message until I take my foot off the brake and it resets. Since the truck thinks there is always a trailer connected the backup sensors are disabled along with the rear camera guide. When the trailer is connected it works fine, no warnings or disconnect messages when hitting the brakes. How do i resolve this?

Unless Curt comes up with an update for the controller there isn't a way we can help aside from having you continue to work with them. Our only real solution is remove the # C79DR and instead use the removable version # C51180 which plugs into the 7-way when needed. This would let you unplug it and not worry about it messing with your sensors.
