Troubleshooting Trailer Brakes that Don't Work with Only One Vehicle and Trailer

Question:

I have 2017 ram 2500, and a 2019 Chevy 2500. I have two horse trailers I interchange the trucks with. When I hook the Chevy up to both trailers everything works great When I hook the ram up to one trailer everything works great. When I hook it up to the second trailer everything works but the trailer breaks. Like I said the trailer breaks work fine when hooked up to the Chevy I’ve changed out the plug and checked the fuses on the ram and everything seems fine. Like I said when that trailer is on the Chevy everything works Thanks

This is mostly likely a bit of corrosion that is on the pins of the trailer wiring connectors. I would take sandpaper to all of the pins on the problem trailer and truck to see if getting them clean allows the full connection to be made. It also could be a partially bent pin so check for that as well.

Other thing to check would be the ground circuits of the trailer wiring. Just go over them and make sure nothing is disconnected or damaged.
