Parts Needed to Install 70" Crossbars on a 2017 Honda Pilot

Question:

I a Thule hulavator last week. I’ve found out I need longer cross bars to get 8” I need to clear my 2017 Honda Pilot. I need at least 74” bars for the clearance I need, as far as I can tell Thule only goes up to 60 in. Is there any one else out there that makes a 74” crossbar that fits a Thule Traverse foot pack. Thanks !,

Have you tried offsetting the crossbars on your 2017 Honda Pilot? If not, you might be able to get the clearance needed by going that route.

If that doesn't work then you need a whole new roof rack system since crossbars will only fit their same-brand counterparts and the Thule crossbars have a small amount of space underneath for the legs to fit.

It sounds like you have a naked roof so for your application you can use the following from Yakima for your application:

- 70" JetStream Crossbars # Y00427
- BaseLine Towers # Y28TR
- Fit Kit # Y06152
- Lock Core Kit # Y07204 (optional)

The 70" crossbars should be more than enough to achieve the 8" of clearance you're needing, unless you're wanting to use 2 sets of the Hullavator. If that's the case then I could see why you're needing such a long crossbars set. I will say with that being the case you need to ensure you won't be getting too much weight on your roof. This roof rack system has a weight rating of 165 lbs and the Hullavator alone is 39.7 lbs so with 2 sets installed you're left with about 85 lbs for your kayaks combined.
