ARE DC TO DC CHARGERS WEATHER PROOF. CAN THEY BE MOUNTED ON THE FRAME?

Generally you do not want to leave a DC to DC charger exposed to the elements. While a charger like the OptiMate Smart Battery Charger # MA99JR does have a durable weatherproof case they restrict use to inside only. We do have the Breakaway Style Charger # 20011 which is very small and designed to fit inside the battery box.

There is not a breakaway kit battery charger, including the Hopkins #20011 that will eliminate vampire draw completely. I do strongly recommend taking a look at the help article I added on trailer breakaway kit installation. Going by this should help…
