Recommended Replacement 4-Pole To 7-Pole Vehicle End Connector
Question:
Kevin, In looking at the 4-way to 7-way adapter I have, it was specifically made for situations where braking wasn’t needed. I didn’t realize this when I bought it from Amazon. Can you suggest an adapter that would be better suited for this purpose? Since I’m using the Prodigy RF, I don’t need the inside witing for hooking up a hardwired controller, so I’m hoping there’s a cheaper option than the ETBC7. Thanks,

Yes, since you're not really needing the full # ETBC7 kit you could just use the Adapter 4 Pole to 7 Pole Vehicle End Trailer Connector # 30717 to swap out your current 7-way for one that can be used with brake controllers. The blue wire would be for a hardwired brake controller and the yellow wire is for connecting to the reverse light circuit. Since you won't need either of these wires at this moment I recommend just capping the together with some electrical tape and then tucking them up out of the way. If you ever get a boat trailer with surge brakes or switch to a different brake controller then you can easily cut the tape and run the lines as needed.
