Recommended Wiring Harness for 2021 Honda Pilot

Question:

the video for the Tekonsha wiring harness shows an extra plug for cars that have a backup warning system. I believe this silences the backup alarm when the trailer light package is engaged. The Tekonsha comes only in a 7 pin and I want a 4 pin. Is the extra plug for silencing the backup warning available in a 4 pin for a 2021 Honda Pilot? If not, Is there a converter available to go from 7 pin to 4 pin?

The additional plug you're talking about on the # 118286 is for vehicles with a backup sensor. It doesn't silence it, it allows it to continue to function as normal on your 2021 Honda Pilot. Basically it is a pass-through. If you have backup sensors you will use this plug, if you don't it isn't necessary.

One way or another, I recommend installing the 7-way over the 4-way. This gives you more options and will save you money if you need a 7-way at some point in the future. You can add a simple, low cost adapter like # PK12716 that will allow you to connect the 7-way to a 4-way on a trailer.
