2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Recommended Parts for Towing a Trailer With Brakes
Question:
Hi, I bought a bolt on class three hitch for my 2023 grand Cherokee L recently for a bike rack. Well now we are looking at getting a light travel trailer to go with it. My vehicle doesn’t have a tow package, so I was curious on what wiring parts I needed to tow our new trailer safely and of course legally? Is there a 7 way RV wire harness and brake controller kit? Or do I buy the 4 way wire harness, 7 way conversion and then the brake controller? Thank you for your time

I'd be happy to help you get your 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L set up for towing a travel trailer with brakes!
In addition to your trailer hitch you'll need a 4-Way, a 7-Way, and a brake controller like you mentioned. For this I recommend the following parts:
- 4-Way # C27BR
- 7-Way # ETBC7L
- Mounting Bracket # C57202
- Brake Controller # C79DR
I really like this setup because it places the brake controller under your vehicle at the back and you adjust the settings via an app on your phone. This means that you get a fully-functioning brake controller that's easy to use and doesn't take up any room in the cabin. If you want to be able to apply the manual override without messing with your phone we also have the Button # C83HR that pairs with the controller.
Now that you have the hitch, wiring, and brake controller figured out we just need to get you a ball mount to complete your towing setup. I really like adjustable ball mounts like what we see with the B&W Tow & Stow 2-Ball Mount # BWTS10033B but they aren't necessary for everyone. I'm attaching a helpful article about ball mounts for you to reference in choosing the right ball mount for your application.
