Should Lower Rated Springs Bars Be Upgraded on a Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution System
Question:
I have bought anew to me travel trailer that came with a blue ox sway pro hitch with 2dot bars. Which surprised me. The listed dry tongue weight is 915 lbs. I have not as yet had it checked to see where I am at but sure I am over 1000 lbs. probably close to 1000 but still over. I am guessing you would recommend 4 dot bars. Yes? Ok so then the question is how do I figure out what chain link to use? Thank you for time.

You are correct. Since your tongue weight falls between the 1,000 lbs - 1,500 lbs range, you would want to switch out your 2 dot spring bars with the 4 dot Replacement Spring Bars for Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution System # BXW4008. This will give you the same set-up as the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control # BXW1500.
When hooking up the chains, you should start with the 9th chain from the top (opposite the u-bolt). You can then adjust the chains from there to get your tow vehicle level. I have included a couple pictures from the instruction manual that talks about hooking the chains up. I have also linked the instruction manual for you to reference.
