Recommendation to Replace Factory Trailer Brake Controller on 2017 Toyota Tundra

I have a 2017 Toyota Tundra with factory brake controller but have heard bad things about them. What are my options to replace with something that is reliable?

If you're looking to switch to an aftermarket brake controller on your 2017 Toyota Tundra, the best option is the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Brake Controller part # RED44FR which features a plug-in-play install when using the Plug-and-Play Wiring Harness for Redarc Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controllers part # RED99FR. It can also install nice and clean when you use the Mounting Panel for Redarc Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controller Control Knob part # 331-TPSI-002. I have a Toyota Tundra with a factory trailer brake controller as well and although haven't had any issues with it, if I were to replace it the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite would be what I used no question.

In order to determine the torque rating for the lug nuts on your trailer you will need to know check out the chart I attached that shows all of the torque specs for all the trailer lugs available based on stud size, wheel material and wheel size.
