Why Is Curt PowerRide 5th Wheel Hitch Making Clank Noise When Taking Off From Stop?

Question:

I have this hitch on a 2022 GMC 3500 Dually, towing a 15k lb 39foot toy hauler, after i come to a stop, while taking off there is a loud clank, dont hear it while normal driving, just when taking off from a stop. is this normal? i have adjusted the mount bolts to the bed factory puck system as tight as i can but some of them are still have a bit of play, but one more turn of the castle nut and i cant tighten it w/o a hammer. i know that some rattling or noise can be normal, but a loud clunk? just checking. thanks.

I haven't run into this issue before with the Curt PowerRide # C36WR but my contact at Curt has and here's what he had to say:

"Sound like the king pin on the trailer moving with in the jaws which is normal. Adjusting the brake controller can help some of the issue."
