Where is the Best Place to Install a Trailer Brake Controller on a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Question:
I bought the controller and wiring adapter, and have the factory trailer wiring. I found the plug under the dash. This model Jeep has an airbag under the steering wheel, so it looks like the only place to mount the controller is on the left side above the parking brake. I cant see under the dash to see what might interfere with the mounting screws. Is it safe to screw into the plastic dash between the hood release and the gas filler release button? Is there some other place to mount the brake controller?

You will want to be sure of what is behind that panel before drilling. If you cannot see up there then try feeling around. If you feel any other components or wiring you will want to choose a different location.
There is no one place that the control must be installed as long as it is mounted within the parameters specified in the instructions and within easy reach of the driver. The most common places are to the left or right of the steering wheel on the lower dash.
Sometimes there is a pocket, empty space on the center console that people use if large enough.
The location you mentioned is probably going to work, you just have to be sure there is nothing back there before drilling or installing screws.
