Replacement Recommendations For A Wesco Entry Door Lock On An Exiss Horse Trailer
Question:
I’m looking for a latch for my exiss trailer. The original is no longer made and the new one I bought does not fit the cut out. Any recommendations? The original was Wesco Entry Door Lock - 44610-09-SP 3.56 in. x 5.44 in.

Most likely since you can't get an exact replacement for your Wesco lock you'll need to trim out the cutout hole a bit in order to stick a larger handle in the door since the smaller size is going to leave a gap. I'm assuming that the dimensions you have pictured are for the cutout hole and not the actual lock?
If so, then you could use a lock like the Bauer Products Motorhome Door Lock # BA64FR, which requires a 5-1/4" wide x 4-1/2" tall cutout hole. We also have the Bauer Products Rotary Latch for Horse and Utility Trailers # BA85FR, which requires a 6" tall x 4" wide cutout hole.
You could also just get a metal plate like you'd see on a residential door that could cover the hole and allow you to cutout a small enough hole for the new door lock, but you'd have to be real careful not to make the door too thick for the door locks to work. Either way you're going to be looking at modifying the cutout hole in order to get anything to work so I would just make it easy and trim the cutout hole larger.
