Picking Out the Correct Leaf Spring and Spring Hanger Replacements for a Homemade 6x8 Flat Trailer

Question:

I have a home built flat trailer with 22.75inch eye to eye leaf spring that is 2inch wide, and double eye with 1/2inch bolts. I believe its 1000-1750 lb leaf spring. The trailer is 6x8 steel single axle. The rear shackle swings so a 23inch eye to eye would probably work. If you can recommend a replacement leaf spring ill certainly purchase it, otherwise ill need to buy new hangars as well.

For a 1,750-lbs leaf spring the closest we carry to what you're needing is the 3-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 3,500-lb Trailer Axles # e59SR.

This spring measures 23-1/8" unloaded, is 1-3/4" wide, and has 3/8" thick leaves. Also, to pick out the correct replacement spring hanger # E4139 you're just going to need to measure the inside width and length from top to center of mounting hole on your current hangers.

Most of the time, double-eye leaf spring hangers will measure 1-3/4" wide so this isn't as important as the distance from the top of the hanger to the center of the mounting hole.
