Can the SumoSprings TSS-107-40 Fit On a 2,000 Pound Axle?

Question:

I have a home made tear camper Id like to add Sumosprings to. The U-bolt plate is 31/2”x31/2” square. The springs are over slung. I’ve read in your answers that it’s possible to “shorten” helper by cutting to make it fit. So the only issue I have is that the axel is rated at 2000lbs. I don’t see why they won’t work though.

We have confirmed with SumoSprings that the # TSS-107-40 can be cut down to shorten them, but the brackets will fit a U-Bolt plate that is at least 3-7/8" wide. This will typically be larger than what is used on an axle that is less than 3,000 pounds. Due to this, the Timbren Trailer Suspension Enhancement System Light-Duty Trailers 1,000 lbs # TTRA1702 may be a better option.

The # TTRA1702 will measure 2-3/4" tall when not under load and is much more suitable for trailers with limited space available. It also attaches to the frame of the trailer so you do not need to worry about the size U-Bolt plate. It does have less capacity though, so it will not offer as much support.
