Is The Blue Ox TrackPro Weight Distribution Adjustable For 350-400LBS of Tongue Weight?
Question:
Hello, I was wondering if you could tell me how the weight rating for this hitch BLU36FR is adjustable from 200-600 lbs? I am only dealing with 350-400 pounds and just need a little help keeping things level. I don’t want to over correct for my tongue weight, so I wondered if moving the ball up and down the 7 shank holes is how you adjust the load rating at the tongue. Thanks

The Spring Bars # BLU82FR for the Blue Ox TrackPro Weight Distribution # BLU36FR is what gives you the tongue weight range of 200-600lbs. The adjustment holes for the ball mount itself are only to help you level the trailer. There are bolt holes on the L-Brackets # BLU72QR for the trailer which will allow you to increase or decrease the amount of tension on the bars. These are typically only ever used in one mounting position. Personally I have never been a fan of the Blue Ox weight distribution and this is one of the reasons why.
The Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System # EQ37060ET is a much better option and the one I recommend. This includes a 2" ball like the Blue Ox. The big difference is unlike the Blue Ox on the Equal-i-zer you can adjust the angle on the hitch head which will allow you to more customize the amount of tension placed on the bars. While the spring bars for this hitch are also rated for 200-600lbs of tongue weight you can actually adjust the tension which gives you actual adjustability.
