How To Mount A Breakaway Switch When The Baseplate Doesn't Have A Mounting Point

Question:

I have a blue ox base plate that does not have a mounting bracket for the breakaway switch. Is there an after market bracket to use to mount the switch? Also is there a bracket to mount the round 4way wire connector? Thanks

Expert Reply:

Typically if the baseplate doesn't have a nice spot to mount the breakaway we just screw it into the fascia using the small bracket that comes on the switch. If we're needing to space it out a bit we typically use a bracket like # 18140 and will still just screw the bracket somewhere into the fascia.

When it comes to this type of installation there really isn't a right way to do it, so you'll just want to use your best judgement and will possibly need to make some alterations to the bracket you choose to use to get it to fit perfectly with your vehicle.
