Will The Furrion Tankless Water Heater Be A Good Replacement For An Atwood GC6AA-10E

Question:

So I have an Atwood gc6aa-10e in a 2018 Springdale 202. Wanting to replace with fusion 16x18. My depth is right at 20. Will it fit?? Also this runs on 12v?? So I have to be hooked up to generator or power to use it?? Current one runs on propane when not hooked up to power. Will this do the same?

The Furrion RV Tankless Water Heater # FR48SR would be the correct choice to replace your Atwood GC6AA-10E in terms of size. The unit has a depth of 19-1/4" so you'd have about 3/4" for your water and gas hookups, so you might need to change out your fittings to ones with a 90 degree bend in order to get them in place.

These units require both propane and 12v DC power in order to operate. The propane fuels the heat and the 12v powers the electronics that control the heat output. You power it off of the trailer's battery, but depending on the battery bank size and usage of the water heater you could drain the battery. It would be best to be plugged in to an AC shore power source but can definitely be done without it.

For installation you'll want to also pick up some butyl tape # AL28FJ to seal the mounting flanges for the unit and the access door. You'll also want some non-sag sealant # 344270341437-1 around the outer edge of the access door trim to help form a waterproof seal.
