Furrion Tankless Water Heater as Replacement for Atwood GC10-2E

Question:

Would your FR93FR replace a GC10-2E Atwood? Will it fit in the same hole? Asking for my elderly parents. Just want to make sure this would be a good replacement for them. Also, does it need additional items when purchasing?

The rough opening of the Atwood GC10-2E Water heating you are removing is 16" tall X 15-1/2" tall X 20-7/8" deep. The Furrion # FR93FR enclosure measurements (that match the rough opening call) is 12-3/4" wide X 12-3/4" tall X 23-1/2" deep.

So you can see that the hole left by the Atwood is much larger than the size of the Furrion. Furrion recommends that your installer use 1.5" thick materials to frame in the new size opening and to place a support between the water heater and the floor to support the weight in the back.

You will need to additionally purchase a door kit for your Furrion heater. The Furrion # FR43FR is a 16" square door that will cover your water heater and materials used to rough in the new heater. I have included a dimensioned picture of the door.

Your installer will need some miscellaneous plumbing parts to complete the installation.
