Will 5th Wheel Hitch Work on 2011 Ford F-250 6-3/4' Bed with In-Bed Fuel Tank

Question:

Situation: Want to install 5th wheel in 2011 F-250 with 6.75 ft bed that has extra fuel tank in front of wheel wells. 61 inches from back of bed to tank 60 from back of bed to tank hold down flange. BandW said not enough room for Companion handle to work. Might work with Puck system and Companion OEM. Local Ford dealer said Puck not available for my truck. Any suggestions?

I have a few options for you here but you won't be able to use a traditional fifth wheel hitch setup with your existing in-bed auxiliary tank, there simply isn't enough room. The base rails are going to hit on the hold down flanges so you won't even get to the point where the hitch smacks the fuel tank. If you had a long bed your chances would be increased but with a short bed it's not possible. I don't know of the dimensions of the existing tank but we do offer shallow options like the DeeZee Truck Bed Auxiliary Tank part # DZ91752X which is only 9" deep. This should then give you enough room for the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch part # BWGNRK1111 and B&W Companion Slider Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter part # BWRVK3400.

If you want to keep your existing in-bed auxiliary tank, the only option I can think of would be the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch and something like the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter part # CAB-C5GX1216.
