Will the Tow Ready Heavy Duty Modulite Wiring Harness # 119250KIT Work with a 2004 BMW X5

Hi will this unit work for a 2004 BMW x5 as well? As it has 2 wires that power up break and drive lights at the same time, I have try ed to run trailer brake but with no luck ,as soon as I plug the trailer in all the lights come on when breaking

Yes, the ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness w/ 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector and Installation Kit # 119250KIT, will work with your 2004 BMW X5. Your X5 uses Pulse Width Modulation, meaning the vehicles sends pulses back to the tail lights to signal certain tail light functions. The converter of this harness can decipher those pulses to activate the trailer lights appropriately.
We have installed this harness on a 2003 X5, so I attached the video for you to check out. The 2003 and 2004 models were part of the same generation, so you can follow the same installation procedure as shown in the video.
If you want to be able to control the electric brakes on the trailer, then you will also want to add an electric brake controller like the Prodigy P3, # 90195, and the 4-Way and 7-Way Installation Kit, # ETBC7. I have attached a help article that explains how to install a brake controller and the ETBC7 kit.
