Recommended Weight Distribution System for Travel Trailer with 600 Lb Tongue Weight

Question:

I will be pulling a 22foot 2-axle travel trailer with my 2017 Ram 1500. The listed presumably dry tongue weight is 521 lbs, but it has a 3,000 payload capacity and I plan to use quite a bit of that, so theres no doubt it will be over 600 on the tongue most of the time Im actually pulling it Is this serving any benefit or posing any risk if I use it on a lighter tongue weight than 600lbs? is it overkill to get this and put in a helper air suspension system?

Helpful Expert Reply:

Ideally, you'll want the loaded trailer tongue weight to be in the middle of the weight capacity range for a weight distribution system. Therefore, a 1,200 lb system would be overkill but a 800 lb system would be perfect. I recommend the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution part # BXW0750 which offers the best sway control and features a bolt-on install. If needed, it can be combined with some suspension enhancements but make sure to set those up first.
