Does Blue Wire Have to be Run to 7-Way to Install Easy-to-Use Brake Controller
Question:
I have a 2017 Peterbilt 337 which is a Med duty semi truck and looking to hook up a brake controller. The basic power wires seem simple, the blue wire is my question? Can I connect the blue wire to some where in the cab that controls the brakes lights or do I have run a wire all the way to the 7 pin plug? Which brake controller is the easiest to operate for electric over hydraulic brakes? Thank you!!!

Expert Reply:
You do have to run your blue wire to the 7-way to activate the trailer brakes, yes. As far as the brake controller, the easiest to use (for both electric or electric over hydraulic trailer brakes) is the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED24FR.
Reason why is the Liberty # RED24FR uses a simple dash-mounted knob that gives you control over your braking power. This is much easier to use than one of those hidden, difficult-to-reach bulky units that you have to pull out the manual just to decipher what is going on.
