Do SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs for a 2017 Chevy Colorado Replace OEM Bump Stops
Question:
I was hoping for some help understanding the sumo springs install. We had a first weekend with our travel trailer and were disappointed with how harsh the ride was in our 2017 Chevy Colorado Z71 4x4 short bed. We were looking at the sumo springs SSR-212-40 to try to help the rear suspension not bottom. On my truck, I have an overload bumper mounted on top of the leaf springs and a plate welded to the frame where it lands. From the install directions I understand that the sumo springs mount to the frame rail where the plate is welded and will interfere and contacts the leaf spring over the axle where the current bump stop is located. Do I need to remove the stock bumper? Am I misinterpreting the install directions? If Im looking to correct the proposing and harsh ride over rough roads, is there an alternate solution I should be looking at?

The SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs part # SSR-212-40 which are a fit for a 2017 Chevrolet Colorado don't require removal of the factory bump stops. They are positioned to the rear of the OEM bumpstop, but as close to it as possible ensuring that the bolts and brackets do not interfere with wiring per the instructions.
