Tire to Replace 4.80-12 on 5 by 8 Trailer
Question:
Hi, I have a 5*8 utility trailer from Lowes with 12inch tires 5 on 4.5. Im building a camper on the trailer and a friend is framing it out and extra foot on each side. Im thinking of replacing the tires with a 10inch tire which would be wider. Would this make it more stable or would it make the camper too low to the ground? Also would the 10inch tire be too wide for the frame? Thanks!

It would not honestly make it any more stable. You'd loose weight capacity, most likely speed rating, and ground clearance like you mentioned. Best option might be stick with what you have now and just make sure it's properly inflated. Otherwise since it looks like you have a 4.80-12 size to go with the next slightly larger size of 5.30-12 like part # TT53012C which would be slightly larger in width, diameter, and has an 81 mph speed rating.
