The two tire sizes you referenced, 4.80-12 and 5.30-12, both fit 4-inch wide rims, but they differ in their overall diameter. A 4.80-12 tire/wheel when fully inflated will have a diameter of 20-1/2-inches while the 5.30-12 size will be just under 22-inches in overall diameter. The linked articles on trailer tires will give you additional information on sizes and tire types.

Old snapper trailer - tire is 4.30-6 and dry rotting. What size tire can I use today as can’t find this specific size. This is an inflatable tire.

We do not have that exact tire. The closest item we have is the Kenda # AM30000 tire and wheel. This has a 4-ON-4" bolt pattern on the wheel that must match what you have. I have attached an article on measuring the bolt pattern. This is a 4.8/4.00-8 sized tire. The rim measures 8" in diameter and 3-3/4" wide. The outside diameter when inflated is 16.1 inches. Make sure this will fit under your wheel well before ordering Tires rated for 65 mph, and 590 pounds per tire load rating. 5 year tire warranty.
