What Type and Size of Battery is Needed to Run the Lippert Electric Trailer Jack with Footplate

Question:

I have an enclosed cargo trailer that I would like to add the Lippert electric jack to. I am buying a batttery that will be dedicated to only this jack. What size/kind of battery do I need? Thank you in advance.

The Lippert Electric Trailer Jack with Footplate # LC285318 operates on a 12v system and pulls 30amps. So you just need a 12v battery that can handle the 30amp hour draw.

Typically the battery found in a trailer would just be a typical car battery. Your best bet would be to go to an auto-part store and pick up a battery. The higher the amp hour rating, the longer it will last between charges. The type of battery will depend on preference. A lithium battery is going to last longer but cost more. You would be perfectly fine getting a pretty basic car battery to run the jack.

I would also recommend having a way to charge the battery like the Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger # RED96FR.
