Which Hubs and Braking Assemblies Should I Get for my 2019 Forest River Travel Trailer?
Question:
I saw an expert comment on the quality of the electric brakes - is this still the case that dexter is better? Different warranties? There was no date. I have a forest river Haulin 2019 6x12 trailer with a 3500lb axle with the mounting plates there are no brakes presently Can you recommend what to get? Along with which hubs? Attached are pics or the comment-the axle sticker and the mounting plates. Also the sticker variant# is V00160137 variant# They trailer is rated for 3500LBS. thank you. Also the wiring of the brakes, does it matter which green wire is the ground wire?

That is still correct, Dexter products like the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit - 10" # 23-468-469 are going to be higher quality and will typically run at a higher price tag when comparing to a more economical option like Electric Trailer Brake Kit - Self-Adjusting - 10" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies # AKEBRK-35-SA.
Dexter also does offer limited 5 year and 10 year warranties which is far higher than the 1-year warranty offered with the Electric Trailer Brake Kit - Self-Adjusting - 10" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies # AKEBRK-35-SA.
With that being said, If it were me I would go with the more premium option # 23-468-469. The peace of mind that if something breaks or is defective a year from now is covered, the better materials used and upstanding track record I believe to be worth it. Especially on a pretty important component like your brakes, I feel like shelling out a bit more money is warranted.
For a set of hubs, I recommend checking out the Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 3.5K Axles # AKHD-655-35-EZ-K. These hubs will work with a 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern, 10" brake assemblies like # 23-468-469, and includes bearings, races, grease seal, grease cap, and lug nuts.
