Which Weight Distribution Hitch For 5,000 lb Trailer
Question:
Hi I have a dry weight of 4390 . Total cargo weight is 500lbs . I don’t know if i should go with the 6000lb equalizer 4 point or the 8000lb equalizer anti sway. This is a total length camper of 26’ .

Since your trailer is very close to 5,000 lbs your total tongue weight is very likely to exceed the 600 lb capacity of the 6k weight distribution hitch, so what you need is the 8,000 lb hitch, and I recommend the Fastway e2 (which is made by Equal-i-zer):
- Fastway e2 Weight Distribution # FA92-00-0800
This has a tongue weight capacity between 400 lbs and 800 lbs which your trailer will fall directly in, making it the best option while also the best value. The only other thing you'll need is the hitch ball, the 2-5/16" Hitch Ball for Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Systems # EQ91-00-6100.
