An E4 error code indicates either a lack of refrigerant, a bad compressor, or an uncalibrated thermistor. The compressor isn't a replaceable part but you could see if the thermistor needs to be recalibrated by completing the steps listed in the attached picture.

Since RV air conditioner condenser units have a closed refrigerant system you wouldn't be able to add in more like you would with your residential condenser unit and ultimately would need to replace the unit if it is in fact low. Atwood units are being phased out by Dometic so I recommend getting away from the brand completely and going with the Furrion Chill HE RV Air Conditioner System # FR55PV.

This system will completely replace your Atwood and give your a sleeker design and more efficient cooling. It designed to work with both ducted and ductless trailers so you'll want to follow the ducted instructions in the manual when installing the air distribution box. This unit comes with a start capacitor as well, which will store energy to help start the unit so there isn't a big power surge every time it kicks on.

I know it's a big expense replacing your AC system so if you have any other questions please feel free to shoot them my way.
