Does Lube Plate Need to Be Used for Hijack Autoslide Since King Pin is Locked Out

Question:

I have this hitch and 6335 adapter plate. Havent used it yet. Do you really need lubricant or a lube plate with this since the kingpin plate or adapter plate doesnt slide on the hitch head? The head moves with it.

I definitely see where you're coming with when it comes to towing using the 18K Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Hitch # DM69GV and Locking Plate # DM76FR for your 2022 Ram 3500.

On questions like this I always like to refer back to the owner's manual since they know what's best for their products. If we jump to page 8 of the instructions for the Hijacker we see that Demco does recommend using a lube plate like the Reese # RP83002 just to help keep things from wearing down. Even with the king pin secured there will likely be slight movement while towing so adding the lube plate will just help to increase the longevity of your towing rig.

Attached are the instructions as well as a clip of the specific place it talks about using the lube plate for you to check out.
