Getting Rid Of The Play In The Demco Hijacker Autoslide Locking Plate For Rhino Pin Boxes

Question:

I havent bolted this in place yet as I dont want to damage the adapter or pin box, but when I slide the adapter into place from below, I imagined it would be tightly fit against the shape of the Rhino pin box on a 2021 Sandpiper fifth wheel and the top played would sit flush, sandwiching the edge of the pin box between the main and top plates. Instead, likely due to how the edges of the pin box roll up, there is probably a good inch or so of side-to-side play towards the back wider part of the pin box, and the rolled edge ends up lifting the top piece a good quarter inch up when set in place when lining up the bolt holes. Is this normal? Im hoping MAYBE there is more force than I thought when bolting this down and it will either push that rolled edge down and out so much that it fills that void in the main adapter plate, or maybe it just actually pinches the pieces together so much that the pressure takes the play away...

There may be a little play on the bottom of the Demco Hijacker Autoslide Locking Plate for Lippert Rhino Pin Boxes. part # DM76FR, to account for the different machining tolerances, but the top plates should hold it snug and remove the play. I did speak with someone from Demco and they said that once this is installed and torqued to spec that you should not see any of the play that you are referring to in your question.
