Which Diode Tow Bar Lighting Kit for 2022 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk

Question:

My 2011 Coachmen Concord Motorhome has a Tekonsha 90160 Primus IQ Electronic Brake Control. It appears to be installed without a wiring harness most wires are secured with wire nuts. Do I need to remove and unwire the controller to flat tow a 2022 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk? I plan to use a Roadmaster tow bar, Blue Ox base plate, Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System, and a diode kit. What diode kit would you recommend? I also need a battery charge line kit? Thx

You do not need to remove a trailer brake controller from a vehicle like your motorhome when flat towing a vehicle. The brake output circuit of the brake controller won't affect anything so it can be left as-is. The braking systems for towed vehicles do not go through the traditional trailer wiring like for example the Demco SBS DUO part # SM99251 which uses the brake light signal of the towed vehicle to engage it and then it's own inertia sensor to determine how hard it applies brake pedal of the towed vehicle.

Since your 2022 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk has ParkSense the diode kit you would need is the Roadmaster Smart Diode kit part # RM47ZR since your vehicle has lights that aren't 12 volt. I attached an install video for this kit on a Cherokee just like yours as well.

A charge line kit is not required.
