How to Choose Correct Weight Distribution Hitch for Keystone Springdale 303BH Travel Trailer
Question:
I have a springdale 303bh, with a gvw of 8000 and a hitch weight of 1000. I was loooking at purchasing the equalizer for 12000 gvw and 1200 hitch, but im not sure if that is correct for my rig. I have a 2008 2500 dodge ram. Thank you for your time.

The Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control # EQ37120ET has a tongue weight range of 800 lbs - 1,200 lbs so if that 1,000 lbs you referenced is with the trailer loaded and ready for a trip then you'll be in good shape as long as the cargo behind the rear axle of your 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 doesn't exceed 200 lbs (since loaded tongue weight and behind-the-rear-axle cargo weight play into weight distribution tongue weight).
If this combined tongue weight rating is just under or exceeds the 1,200 lbs then we need to step up the weight distribution size to part # EQ37140ET which has a tongue weight range of 1,000 lbs - 1,400 lbs.
If you aren't sure what your loaded tongue weight is then a tongue weight scale like part # e99044 is a great way to calculate this each time you load up. You'll also need a 1-7/8" thin-walled socket like part # EQ70-00-4800 to install the hitch ball on either system.
