Troubleshooting Constant Right Turn/Stop Trailer Light Function on 2018 Jeep Wrangler

Question:

I have full 12 Volts to the right side wiring, which is the green wire for turn signals and taillights on the right side on all the time .Even when the Jeep is off. I feel that there is a short in the control modular because with the trailer unplugged the post in the jeeps continues to test full 12 volts all the time .With the jeep completely turned off .I would like you to explain to me how I would replace it or repair it If you can send me the parts I can install it. 2018 jeep wrangler. Thank you

Thank you for all of the insight, it really helps narrow down what we need to be looking for.

I believe you are correct that the problem is on the vehicle wiring. If your 2018 Jeep Wrangler is a JK then you have something similar to the Curt # C55124 which is a simple tee solution but if you have the JL Wrangler then you have something like the Curt # C56407 which has the whole module setup.

With the JK wiring I actually believe the issue might be on your OEM wiring but for the JL the issue would definitely lie within the module - you can verify this by testing the green wire with the tee connector. If that is working properly then the module is passing that 12V power through to the right turn/stop function on your trailer.

Unfortunately for the module situation the solution is to purchase a whole new wiring kit. None of the wiring manufacturers provide a module to cut and splice into their existing wiring. It can be a pain for sure but there is a little comfort knowing that you replaced all of it so that's one less thing to worry about.

In this case you would be able to use the same 12V power lead as long as it's still in good working condition.
