Cargo Carrier Recommendation For Carrying Snow Blower On 2006 Subaru Forester

Will this hitch work with a 2006 Subaru Forester? Will PS1040100 work for carrying a snow blower?

I did some online research on your 2006 Subaru Forester and found that the maximum towing capacity is 2400 lbs. When considering a hitch mounted cargo carrier, you are allowed about 10 percent of the maximum towing capacity, and that includes the weight of the cargo carrier along with the cargo. This means that your total weight capacity for a cargo carrier and its cargo would total about 240 lbs. You will want to check the owners manual for the actual towing capacity of your vehicle.

I recommend a hitch mounted cargo carrier with a ramp like the Flint Hill Goods 30x50 Cargo Carrier, part # FHG77ZR. The carrier weighs approximately 80 lbs, so if your snow blower weighs about 160 lbs or less you would be okay. This carrier also has a ramp that would make it much easier to load your snow blower.

You could also consider the aluminum version # FHG77ZR that weighs 77 pounds less and has a 60" ramp.

The 31x47 Pro Series Solo Cargo Carrier, part # PS1040100, weighs about 61 lbs but it does not include a ramp.

All three of these carriers for a hitch with a 2 inch receiver opening. I have attached some videos about these cargo carriers.
