Trailer Hitch, 4 and 7-Way Trailer Wiring, and Accessories for a 2013 Ford Explorer
Question:
I need to add a tow package on my 2013 Ford Explorer. I have to have a 7 way connector not a 4 pin. Can you confirm the correct 7 way part that would fit my vehicle?

To add a 7-Way trailer connector your 2013 Ford Explorer you will first need to install a 4-Way harness, # C59496. This includes a converter that takes the separate brake light and turn signal circuits and combines them for use with a trailer.
Once you have the 4-Way installed you can then install a 7-Way using the 4 and 7-Way installation kit # ETBC7. The 4-Way will plug into this unit. It includes the 7-Way connector and all the wiring and accessories needed to make it fully functional. I have included some links that show and explain the ETBC7 installation for you.
If you also need a brake controller to control electric trailer brakes, I recommend the Tekonsha P2, # 90885. It is one of our most popular controllers because it is easy to set up, easy to use, and its reliable.
If your Explorer does not already have a trailer hitch then I recommend the Curt trailer hitch # C13386. Its the most popular hitch for the 2013 Explorers. I have included links to the instructions and to a video showing a typical installation for you. I also recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts, 2 balls, a hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
