How To Install The Dometic RV Water Heater When You Don't Have An AC Outlet

Question:

My old Atwood water heater gas / electric installed in a 2004 Bigfoot 30Mh29SL, my old unit was/is hard wired. I see the DometicDMC74FR has a 110 plug. How do you resolve this wiring issue?

Expert Reply:

If your current water heater is ran from the AC distribution panel then you could just disconnect the power, ground, and neutral from it and get a 15 amp GFCI outlet, 1-gang electrical box, and an outlet cover to wire in an outlet for the Dometic RV Water Heater # DMC74FR to plug into.

If your previous unit was only DC then you'll need to also pick up some 14-2 wire from your local hardware store and run the lines yourself. You will also need to use a 15 amp circuit breaker in your AC Distribution panel for this unit.
