Weight Distribution Recommendation for a 2016 Airstream Sport 16' Travel Trailer

Question:

I have a 2016 airstream sport 16 feet. Is bwx1003 works for me? I am not sure what underslung means or would it work for my camper?

Thanks for reaching out!

According to my research a 16' Airstream Sport is going to have a tongue weight at around 350 lbs so a system like the Blue Ox SwayPro # BXW1006 that has a tongue weight range of 750 lbs - 1,000 lbs so it will be way overkill for your setup and you'll have a stiff towing experience.

For a lighter trailer I recommend checking out the Blue Ox SwayPro # BXW0550 instead because the tongue weight range is 350 lbs - 550 lbs. A weight distribution system takes into account the loaded tongue weight of the trailer as well as any cargo behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle so as long as you're inside this tongue weight range you'll be good to go!

Underslung couplers aren't super common so I'd be surprised if you have that type on your Airstream. I'm attaching some photos to demonstrate the difference between a standard coupler and an underslung coupler for you to check out (note the location of the coupler compared to where they are at on the frame). If you happen to have an underslung coupler then you'll need the part # BXW0553 instead.
