Help Opening Vent Lid On MaxxAir Roof Vent Fan After Removing Lift Motor
Question:
Three screws, right you are. I guess following a diagram is beyond me. Removed the third. Motor popped out. Vent lid is still stuck. @ an inch of movement Is there any problem with disconnecting the lift arms from inside the RV? There is a little play with the lid. I have an operating mechanism already. Found quite a bit of oil that had leaked from the motor onto the inside fan cowling. Will check the motor this evening to see if it still works but that much oil concerns me. Should I replace the motor while Im at it? Respectfully

It sounds like your Operator Mechanism # MA10-20281K-1AF is not allowing you to open the vent lid after you removed the motor. As you have removed the Motor # MA10-20270 you can try to stick a screw driver up into the gear on the operator mechanism to turn it manually and raise your vent lid. This may be a 2 person job to provide slight pressure opening the vent lid while someone else turns a screw driver in the mechanism. A flat head as close to the size of the gear on the motor is going to be the best option to turn the mechanism.
For the oil you will want to make sure you clean all of it off the fan and you will likely have to replace the Motor # MA10-20968 as they are not serviceable.
