SumoSpring Helper Spring Recommendations for a 2015 Forest River Motorhome on Sprinter Chassis

Question:

Hi. I am looking to purchase both front and rear SumoSprings for my 2015 Forrester RV on 2014 Sprinter chassis 3500 2WD DRW . It has a GVWR of 11030 and fully loaded I am close to GVWR front axle weight ~ 4100 lbs and rear axle weight ~ 6900 LBs. I do not tow a vehicle but I do normally carry 2 ebikes on my back hitch ~ 130 LBS including bike carrier . Looking to reduce side to side sway when coming out of driveways/gas stations/etc as much as possible but not so much to make drive feel more stiff. I was looking at SumoSpring SSF-106-40 blue on the front but on the fence on whether to go with SSR-338-47 black or SSR-338-54 yellow on the rear. ?, Can you help me decide? Thanks

I'd be happy to help!

Going with the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs for your 2015 Forest River RV (on the MB Sprinter chassis) is an excellent idea as they are more forgiving than the Timbrens but they also provide stability for that side to side sway like you said.

For the front you want the part # SSF-106-40 that you stated, and for the rear I recommend the yellow kit # SSR-338-54 rated at 1,400 lbs over the black kit # SSR-338-47 rated at 900 lbs. The reason I recommend the heavier duty set is because these are close enough in weight capacity and you'll have your motorhome loaded up enough that the extra stability will really just help stabilize your motorhome more.

The nice thing is that the SumoSprings won't be adding so much more stability that it makes your ride more stiff. It will sway less, but it will give you back more control since you won't be fighting it as much.
