Can the Ultra-Fab Carrier # UF48-97903 Hold 2010 Honda Elite Scooter on 2010 Jeep Wrangler
Question:
I have a 2010 jeep wrangler and am looking for a scooter carrier for a 2010 Honda elite110. Would this carrier work? And is it easy to load scooter for a single person? I am also concerned about a carrier being able to clear my spare tire without using a hitch extender.

To ensure that the Ultra-Fab motorcycle carrier, part # UF48-979033 that you referenced will fit your 2010 Jeep Wrangler with your spare tire you will have to take the following measurement. Measure from the center of the hitch pin hole to the outermost edge of your spare tire.
With our hitch installations on Jeep Wranglers, we have that measurement up to 13 inches, however it will vary due to the size of your spare tire. The distance from the center of the hitch pin hole on the # UF48-979033 to the closest part of the track is 15-1/2 inches. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the track is 19 inches.
The rack is 5 inches wide. My research shows that your 2010 Honda Elite 110 scooter has tires with a maximum width for the front of 3-3/4 inches and the back of 4-1/3 inches which will easily fit inside the track.
The only other size consideration is the width of your scooter. I was unable to find the width online so you will need to measure the width of your scooter taking the 15-1/2 inches measurement from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the track in mind to determine if your scooter will contact your Jeep at any point.
The ramp stows on the the side away from your vehicle so you will not have any interference with that. Having the ramp makes it easier for a single person to load, however, it is much safer to have a second person there just in case.
Before you load any cargo, please check the weight capacity of your hitch. Providing that you have a 2 inch receiver we have the tongue weights listed at 350 lbs, however, you will need to verify yours for the specific weight capacity.
My research shows that your 2010 Honda Elite 110 has a curb weight of 254 lbs and the carrier weighs about 58 = 312 lbs so this will put you below the maximum weight capacity limit. Using a hitch extender with this carrier will definitely not work. When you use an extender it cuts your tongue weight capacity in half. Since you are below the probable weight capacity as it is now, with an extender you will absolutely overload your vehicle and can cause damage to the hitch, vehicle and scooter.
I have attached a FAQ article covering hitch mounted carrier information.
To secure your Honda scooter to the carrier you may be interested in the Erickson Retractable Ratchet Strap # EM34420. This is a set of 4 straps with a 1,500 lb break strength. The nice feature of these is that they have a push button release and coated s-hooks that helps prevent scratching.
