Ram OEM 5th Wheel Package Adapter Recommendation for Standard 5th Wheel Hitches
Question:
I have a customer that a hitch and adapter in his 2011 Ford truck and is planning to buy the 2013-2104 Dodge. Will the Reese adapter for the Ford work with the Dodge, or is the the Dodge different? Can the Ford adapter be modified?

The adapter that your customer has for his 2011 Ford truck fifth wheel package will not work with the OEM fifth wheel package on the 2013 and 2014 Ram trucks. The OEM fifth wheel package on the Ram trucks have a different foot print, meaning the pucks in the truck bed are spaced further apart than the pucks on Ford trucks.
If your customer chooses to go with a 2013 or 2014 Ram truck with the OEM fifth wheel package, then he will want the Reese Elite Series Rail Adapter, # RP30154. This adapter was designed to work with the pucks from the Dodge fifth wheel package only.
Keep in mind, this adapter will only install in one orientation. The Reese sticker must be facing the tailgate. If the Reese sticker is facing the cab of the truck, then the adapter will not fit into the pucks in the truck bed.
