Troubleshooting A DSI FLT Error On An RV Water Heater

Question:

Our dsi flt light is staying on. Can we change to a tankless water heater and not replace this part? Obviously I know nothing about this stuff. We have a 2012 Highland Ridge Toy Hauler

The DSI FLT light just means that the water heater has tried to ignite and kick on and wasn't able to. This can be caused by low propane levels, a bad propane regulator, or a faulty water heater.

I recommend first turning off the power running to the water heater, this should either be a fuse or a circuit breaker depending on the model you have. Next check the propane levels, if the tanks are full make sure the knob is fully open as well for the gas to flow. Try powering the water heater back on and seeing if it works.

If it isn't working but other propane appliances are then the regulator is most likely not the issue and the water heater itself is the problem. If no gas appliances are working and your tank is full then the regulator is the cause and can be replaced. We have a variety of different options depending on the setup of the tanks so send me a picture of your current regulator and I can find the correct replacement.

You can definitely replace your current water with a tankless one like the Furrion RV Tankless Water Heater # FR98SR, but if the gas pressure is the real issue then you still get error codes. If the issue lies with the sensor or control board of your current water heater then replacement will solve it.

If you have any other questions please let me know.
