Troubleshooting A DSI-FLT Error On An Atwood RV Water Heater

Question:

I have a propane/electric Atwood Water heater. Sometimes when I’m running it on 120v the DSI FLT light comes on and we get no more hot water. Switching the heater off and on again temporarily fixes the problem - until the fault light comes on again. Any suggestions? Thanks,

DSI stands for direct spark ignition and FLT stands for fault. Normally you would see this error code on your Dometic RV Water Heater # DMC74FR if it tried to ignite the burner on the water heater but failed. First thing is to check your propane supply. The second thing would be to check the burn chamber to see if it is clogged with carbon flakes and clean it out.

Since you're not running it in gas mode it means that the ECO (Energy Cut Off Switch) is causing your issue. This switch will activate and stop your unit to prevent overheating the water. Resetting the power like you have has been clearing this issue but since it keeps tripping you'll need to have a licensed technician replace the thermal cut off switch (ECO) or the thermostat as that could also be faulty,
