Class I VS II Trailer Hitch Receiver For a 2020 Toyota Camry For Towing A Trailer

Question:

I have a 2020 Toyota Camry. I want to pull a 10x5 steel trailer with a golf cart1200lbs inside. Looks like I can only put on a class 1 or 2 trailer hitch. Can a class 2 hitch handle that weight? Thanks again!

According to the owners manual for your 2020 Toyota Camry, "Toyota does not recommend towing a trailer with your vehicle. Toyota also does not recommend the installation of a tow hitch or the use of a tow hitch carrier for a wheelchair, scooter, bicycle, etc. Your vehicle is not designed for trailer towing or for the use of tow hitch mounted carriers."

With that said if you decide to go ahead and tow a trailer the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11576 is a class I receiver which is rated to tow up to 2,000lbs with a tongue weight up to 200lbs. Since your Camry is not recommended for towing Toyota does not give any capacities for towing.

To use either receiver to tow a trailer you will need a Ball Mount # 36061, 1-7/8" Ball # 19257 or 2" Ball # 19258 to match the trailers coupler and a Hitch Pin and Clip # F-4. You can upgrade to the Master Lock Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock and Coupler Lock Set # 3794DAT if you wish to be able to secure your trailer to your Camry and while in storage. Finally the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118763 will give your Camry a 4-way flat trailer wiring connector. This will be needed to connect to most small trailers like the 5' x 10' utility trailer you will need to haul your golf cart.
